Prof. Dr. Sokol Abazi
Rector

Sokol Abazi graduated as Industrial Chemist in Albania, Tirana University in 1989. In 1997 he obtained his PhD from Fribourg University (Switzerland) in organic synthesis using radical chemistry. After a Postdoc in Total Synthesis of Natural Products at Oxford University in 1998, he worked for a couple of companies in the UK and Switzerland and then returned to Albania working as a Professor at Tirana University. Since 2015 he is a Full Professor at CIT, from 2020 he holds the Rector position. His research interests are mainly focused on natural products, organic synthesis, and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). In the last decade, he has been working on the use of a modified “soxhlet-like” extraction technique using sub-critical CO2. He is an expert on structure elucidation techniques, including NMR and MS techniques.

Prof. Dr. Ismail Kocayusufoğlu
Vice-Rector in International Affairs / Dean of Engineering Faculty

Prof. Dr. İsmail KOCAYUSUFOĞLU started his career at Anadolu University – Eskişehir – Turkey, Department of Mathematics, in 1986. He graduated as a valedictorian student. Then he got an MSc degree in 1988 at the same University. Due to his success in his Master’s degree, he was granted a scholarship for a Ph.D. degree in the USA. Prof. Dr. İsmail KOCAYUSUFOĞLU attended ALA (American Language Academy, Pueblo-Colorado in 1989. He started his Ph.D. at Michigan State University, East Lansing (1990-1991). He then transferred to Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA. He received his Ph.D. in at Lehigh University-USA in Mathematics (Geometry) in 1993. Prof Kocayusufoglu has been awarded as Prof. Dr title at Eskişehir Osmangazi University – Turkey in 2006; at the International University of Sarajevo – BiH in 2012; at International Balkan University – North Macedonia in 2013. 

 

Dr. Blerta Nazarko
Vice-Dean

Blerta Nazarko has a PhD in Mathematical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana. Blerta has an Integrated Degree of Second Level in Mathematics from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana, and a Master of Science degree in theoretical Mathematics from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana. She has been part of our academic staff at Canadian Institute of Technology since 2018 and has positively impacted our students with her knowledge and expertise in the field of Mathematics.

Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Karras
Head of Software Engineering Department

Dimitrios A. Karras received his Diploma and M.Sc. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTUA, Greece in 1985 and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, from the NTUA, Greece in 1995, with honors. From 1990 and up to 2004 he collaborated as visiting professor and researcher with several universities and research institutes in Greece. He has published more than 70 research journal papers and more than 185 research papers in International refereed scientific Conferences. His research interests span the fields of intelligent and distributed systems, pattern recognition and computational intelligence, image and signal processing and systems, among others. He has served as program committee member as well as program chair and general chair in several international workshops and conferences. 

Dr. Donald Elmazi
Head of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Department

Donald Elmazi is a Lecturer at CIT, where he lectures and conducts researches. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Tirana with a B.S. and M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering. In 2015, he enrolled in the PhD. program in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Japan. His work was focused on Wireless Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks, IoT, and Intelligent Algorithms. After receiving his PhD. diploma, he became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the same university. During his years of research, Dr. Elmazi published 82 International Conference papers (30 First Author) and 30 Journal Papers (11 First Author).

Prof. Dr. Habib Hamam
Lecturer

Habib Hamam obtained the B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in information processing from the Technical University of Munich, Germany 1988 and 1992, and PhD degree in Physics and applications in telecommunications from Université de Rennes I conjointly with France Telecom Graduate School, France 1995. He has a postdoctoral diploma, from Université de Rennes I in 2004. He is an OSA senior member, IEEE senior member, and a registered professional engineer in New Brunswick. He is, among others, editor in chief in CIT-Review Journal and associate editor of the IEEE Canadian Review. His research interests are in optical telecommunications, Wireless Communications, diffraction, fiber components, RFID, information processing, data protection, COVID-19, and Deep learning.

Assoc. Prof. Shkelzen Cakaj
Lecturer

Shkelzen Cakaj has received his BSc and MSc degrees from Pristina University in Kosovo. He has prepared his Master Thesis at Vienna Technical University.  He was awarded a PhD in the area of satellite communications from Zagreb University, in January 2008. Later on, in 2009, as Fulbright scholar, he continued his postdoctoral research at NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) at Maryland, USA. He is the author of 66 papers published in worldwide conferences and journals; mostly IEEE. He also engaged as a reviewer for IEEE Communication Magazine, etc.  His area of interest is the satellite ground station performance. In 2016 he was awarded as “Albanian ICT Researcher of the Year 2015”. He is promoted as Associate Professor, from Polytechnic University of Tirana.

Assoc. Prof. Abdulsalam Alkholidi
Lecturer

Professor Doctor Engineer Abdulsalam Alkholidi is a lecturer researcher at CIT. Published 37 articles and co-authors of two books in English. Obtained his PhD degree in numerical and optical information compression from University of Western Brittany, France 2007. He obtained the B.Eng. (honors) and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunications engineering and electronics from the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, Russian and from University of Rouen, Normandy, France 1990 and 2004, respectively. He received an advanced certificate in MTNM98, from Telia Academy, Kalmar Sweden, 1998. He is an expert in telecommunication networks, optics and photonics, accreditation and quality assurance. He is a reviewer for several international scientific journals and his research interest is in the following fields: data and image processing, optics, PV systems and invisible pollution.

Dr. Alfons Harizaj
Lecturer

Alfons Harizaj is a professor of mathematic at Canadian Institute of Technology. He obtained his graduate degree in mathematic (1988) from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Albania. Dr. Harizaj received his Ph.D. in mathematic (2017) and master of science in Numerical Analysis (2008) from the University of Tirana. He teaches math courses in the Faculty of Engineering. Dr. Harizaj has published university textbooks for engineering and economy study programs, university textbooks for professional study programs, and many papers and presentations in scientific journals and conferences. His experience also includes being a member of numerous professional committees and research advisory boards.

Dr. Majlinda Fetaji
Lecturer

Majlinda Fetaji is Full Professor, in   Computer Sciences and Technologies. She Received her PhD in South East European University, Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, Computer Sciences and a Master of Sciences, from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Electro-technical Faculty. Majlinda has a teaching experience for more than 20 years in undergraduate and Master programme. She published 122 papers which can be can be found at the following link. In 12 NOV 2009 she was awarded as the Researcher of the Year 2008 – Macedonian Academy of Science an Arts (MANU) Awarded the prize Researcher of the Year 2008 from Macedonian Academy of Science an Arts (MANU) based on the published research.

Dr. Bekim Fetaji
Lecturer
Bekim Fetaji is Full Professor of Computer Sciences since 2016. He served as the Vice President of Macedonian Board of Accreditation of Higher Education in Macedonia 2015-2017. Received his PhD in Computer Sciences at Graz University of Technology, Austria, his MsC from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, England. He served as Visiting Professor in different Universities among others in Staffordshire University UK, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Engineering, Japan, UPT, etc. Published more than 140 scientific papers in international conferences, most of them in IEEE and ACM and more than 30 international journals, some of them with ISI Web of Science impact factor. Main research interest are in virtual learning environments, software engineering, data science with machine learning, and closely related fields.
Dr. Pece Mitrevski
Lecturer
Pece Mitrevski received his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, North Macedonia. His research interests include: Computer Architecture, Instruction-Level Parallelism, Computer Networks, Cloud Computing, Performance and Reliability Analysis of Computer Systems, Electronic Commerce and Behavioral Modeling. His academic experience of almost three decades, extends to more than a dozen of doctoral students whom he has mentored. He has authored over 120 papers in journals and refereed conference proceedings, participated in the implementation of numerous international projects, and stayed at about 20 foreign universities. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and ACM.
Dr. Maaruf Ali
Lecturer

He obtained his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from King’s College London, University of London (UK) in 1997 and his first degree in Telecommunications from Queen Mary, the University of London in 1989. He has over 20 years of teaching experience. He has published over 130 research papers. He is currently the chair of one IEEE and one Springer Conference in England (now in its fourth year) on Computer Engineering, Networking, and Communications. His extensive academic, industrial and international teaching experience includes three years in Albania, Saudi Arabia and China as well as a year teaching Vodafone and Motorola Engineers in the UK. Maaruf has also examined 20 PhD students, 16 as an external examiner, both nationally and internationally. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE; Fellow of the IAER, ASDF and the Higher Education Academy; Member of the IET, ACM, IAENG and the Internet Society and a Professional Educator (PE) of the American Society for Engineering Educators (ASEE). He is also registered with the Engineering Council of the UK and a Chartered Engineer.

Afrim Alimeti has a PhD in Physics from University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA, USA, 2010.”Neutron Scattering Cross Section Measurements for 169 via the Time-of-Flight Technique.” He has a Master’s Degree in Physics, University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA, USA, 2003. “Studies of Quadrupole Lenses.” and a Bachelor Degree in Physics from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA, USA, 1999. His research area is Physics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Operational Research, Engineering, Linguistics, Metaphysics and Alchemy (impartially approaching what seem to be metaphysical and/or alchemical phenomena/processes).

Dr. Eralda Caushi
Lecturer

Eralda Caushi graduated from the Faculty of Statistical Sciences at the University of Padua and earned a PhD degree in Statistics at the University Our Lady of Good Counsel. With over 8 years of experience, her job profile has provided her with a well-round skillset including excellent relationship building, time management skills, problem-solving and forward-thinking skills. She has been evaluated with the highest score on her dissertation research “Statistical methods for identification, analysis and prediction of customer attrition” by identifying and analyzing different models that can help data analysts to find the churners in the Albanian Telecommunication industry.

Dr. Adriola Faqolli
Lecturer

Adriola Faqolli has 12-years teaching experience as lecturer in different universities. She graduated as a Computer Engineer in Istanbul University, Turkey. She has received a Master of Science in Software Systems Engineering from a double degree program in two universities, RWTH University in Germany and University of Trento, Italy. In 2016 she received the PhD diploma from PhD program “Managing Information Systems” in University of Tirana, Albania. Her research interests span in the field of Database Design, Machine learning, Data Mining, Data Science etc. Adriola also has a strong background in Software Systems Engineering field in the industrial sector. She has managed technical departments and important projects related to digital transformation in the companies where she has worked. She is very helpful to the students by illustrating the knowledge that she delivers with practical use cases from the industry.

MSc. Shefqet Meda
Assistant Lecturer

Shefqet Meda has graduated in Electronic Engineering. He has been certified with: Certificate of Achievement CSSOT: CS50’s Understanding Technology from Harvard University; AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials from Amazon Web Services; Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Impact, 5G – The path to the next generations, Competition Policy in Digital Age from United Kingdom; Cybersecurity Essentials by CISCO Networking Academy. Participant and leader of several projects at the international level, National Frequencies Monitoring System; Mapping Infrastructure System; Measure Internet quality of service, IoT and AI medical applications. Eng. Meda is a Board member of the Albanian Institute of Broadcast Engineers and a Member of the Noncommercial Stakeholder Group of ICANN.

MSc. Bledar Kazia

Bledar Kazia is a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering/ Software Engineering Department for the subjects; Computer Communication & Network. Computer Architecture & Assembly Language MS. He obtained his Master degree in Computer Engineering”, at ” Fatih University “, Istanbul, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science / International University of Struga / North Macedonia. He has been a visiting Lecturer at University of Szeged, Faculty of Engineering, Szeged, Hungary. His research interest lies in the area of Cybernetic Security.

MSc. Ibrahim Çekirri
Assistant Lecturer

Ibrahim Çekirri has a degree in Electronic Engineering from Polytechnic University in Tirana. After finishing his Master’s studies in Business Administration at the Canadian Institute of Technology, he was involved and is giving his contribution as a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering. He is a Fulbright scholarship winner and is continuing his second Master’s studies in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity at the Florida Institute of Technology. He was Project Assistant, at COORP Project, Helvetas – Swiss Intercooperation Albania during 2017-2018. His research area interest are Security and Privacy standards, Biometric Systems, Network, and Systems Security, Cryptography and Information Hiding, JAVA, and Python Programming.

MSc. Klea Çapari

Klea Çapari is a lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. 
Her research interests are in the areas of computer science, information technology, software engineering, cyber security.  She received her Bachelor Degree in Information and Communication Technology from University of Tirana, Faculty of Natural Science and the Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Network and Cyber Security profile, from Canadian Institute of Technology.

MSc. Anxhela Baraj
Assistant Lecturer

Anxhela Baraj, Computer Engineer specialized in Network and Cyber-Security. Received her bachelors degree in Business Informatics from the University of Tirana, and her Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from the Canadian Institute of Technology where she is currently working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering. Her research interests cover several aspects across computer science and information technology, with a special focus on network security.
